Various natural glues work quite nicely as well. Some users have had great success printing with Ceramic tiles as well.

Shampoo? I hope that is a joke... if not, that is your problem why you can't print properly. You are supposed to use hairspray and not shampoo.

Well, I have the glass and the shampoo, what is the best way of resetting the Z stop height? Via software or via manually adjusting the Z stop?

I do have to pry some things off, even when it's all cold. I use a razor blade scraper to get under a corner and pop it up. My hairspray is: Vidal Sassoon pro series, extra firm hold, 4/5 on the scale, in spray can, 397g, $6 from wal-mart. Ingredients (with spelling errors): water, dimethyl ether, alchohol denat., VA/crotonates/vinyl neodecanoate co-polymer, acrylates copolymer, aminomethyl propanol, glycereth-7 triacetate, ammonium benzoeate, cyclopenta siloxane, acetamide mea, cyclohexylamine, peg-8 dimethicone, fragrance.
Jeez, people put this in their hair?

Not only that but they breathe it while putting it on their hair...

Thanks! I'll try these. Do I put the glass on the bed, or take the bed off and install it where the bed use to be?

Sounds like overextruding is one of your issues and if the stream from the nozzle is curling instead of squirting straight down you may have a partial clog. Here is a great video Ian made up to show how to calibrate extrusion---> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JZGdMc2ebPo

Yes. You MUST install a glass bed, use hair spray, install thumb screws, and perhaps make a cover out of cardboard (stick on with magnets, kept away from electronics board). It is an easy thing to do and it solves three problems:

1. The glass is perfectly flat, so imperfections in your aluminum bed (unevenness) will no longer be a problem.
2. Parts stick very well to glass / hair spray (You might need to try a couple of brands).
3. Removal of parts is easier because you take the glass out to pry (yes, literally pry sometimes) them off.

These updates took me less than a day, and they changed the game for me.

I'm attempting to troubleshoot my printer's problem, since I've never been able to get it to print the first layer correctly. I've got a solidooble 2 without a case but with a heated bed. When in idle the extruder leaks and the ABS curls up. I remove it, but during the print I'm thinking it is always extruding, even when it shouldn't be. Thus there is extra globs here and there- the head runs into them and starts dragging the first layer of the print around the bed.

I've updated the firmware, leveled the print bed, increased the first layer thickness by 150%, decreased the speed by 80%, increased the bed temperature to 100 C with no luck.

Right now I'm trying to decrease the extruder temperature to 175 C, my thought being that maybe the temperature gauge is underestimating the temperature. I manually set the extruder temperature to 175 C, change the sl3cr g code to read 175 C in both places, but when I hit the print button on repetier, everything switches back to 195 C. The printer waits for the head to heat up, develops a glob of ABS and right before I can remove it, it starts printing a giant glob.

Any advise?
