I have been trying to figure out what is going on with this as well. One of the things that I tried it with has 70 layers with no support and 123 with support. The support version had just about every other layer empty. I didn't look at the g-code to see if there was a z-axis change on these layers. I will look into mine a little more.

Occasionally, I get this as well. I admit I didn't check into it though. In the couple cases I've seen it, the subsequent print came out okay. I should have looked into the gcode to see if the mostly empty layers are a full layer height above the previous one or not.

I'm using the latest Slic3r 0.9.9 and whenever I turn supports on for this model - http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:16146 - I run into this problem. The model checks out fine and is solid. I've had this problem in the past and moved on to a different model but I'm running into it more and more to where it's becoming a hindrance. These alternating missing/partial layers appear randomly throughout the model. Can't find much online anywhere relating to this problem, or maybe it's out there and I don't know what to properly search for. Any suggestions?
