So is the SD3 bed heater a silicon pad?

I find 12V does not get the bed hot enough and the unit needs an enclosure to get above 89 and the edges of the bed dont get hot enough (guess) and the back edges are warped downwards. (over 15 mil so the fillament wont stick there)

It happened just before I went to print. i started using a cloth to get the board up to temp faster - it reached about 100C and I took the cloth off, then I noticed the temperature precipitously dropping. It wouldn't come back after that.

I emailed support and tested the pad with a multimeter from the terminal and got 0 ohms, so the whole pad is definitely shot (I think). I've been doing a lot of research since then with a lot more luck, and I'm thinking about upgrading and going with the qu-bd silicon pads - specifically the 6", which would fit in the footprint of the original heating pad. Would attaching it to the aluminum bed and insulation with double sided kapton tape be sufficient? I saw your post on making a bed platform that can be scaled for the 8" pad, and I might do that later, but I'm a little scared the platform will deform. If I'm upgrading I'd like to be able to operate the bed at 120C which seems to be recommended for maximum ABS stickiness, but specifically because it's past the glass transition point.

I'm still iffy on power supplies. I think I should just go small for now and buy a 1x12v 15A supply and a solid state relay, which as a bonus doesn't seem to require any soldering. All the future modifications I want to do rely on having a working printer anyways. Does all that sound alright?

My heated bed blew at the connector

I'm a huge electrical newbie, so I'm just looking for advice on what to do next. Are there common parts I can use to replace the pad? is there any documentation for replacing the pad? I couldn't find any. The left pin on the board looks pretty bad as well.
