The part I have used is a standard air-hose push-fit connector, but its a 1/4" thread. In a perfect world, you'd get one sized the same as the top end of the PEEK connector, and voila, hot-end interface done. Like what coleke got that's linked above.
What I'll end up doing is having to build a top-mount for the connector.

So yeah, you can use the same setup as on mine, but you'll probably want to avoid the 1/4" thread.

Im confused - whats pictured is a bowden extruder.. it connects to the hot-end using bowden tube (hence the name)... There is no hot-end involved here.. What exactly are you trying to say re 'standard j-head type mount; ? I haven't posted any pics of the hot-end side yet, which is where the j-head or all-metal-hotend goes etc. Which technically is irrelevant, what is relevant is thats its designed to take "Groove" mounts which is what the J-Head or Makegear extruder (as per standard Solidoodle) have.

So yes its for a Groove mount system eventually - but I haven't built the hot-end side yet, which is where that becomes relevant. Whats pictured is simply the extruder motor and bowden tube system...

Using as I said a tweaked Airtripper V3 design that was modded originally by Boots Industries to get rid of the excess bits.

I've further moved the filament path east 1mm, because I'm using the same extruder cog as on the SD from TrinityLabs. The Push-Fits I already had so hence the odd thread sizing.

Just need to get the 45mm M3's for the tension arm and to work out the Hot-End.

Updates:
- Fixed holes in model
- Used single wall supports to make everything printable.

I am still measuring up my x-carriage and hot ends. I am hoping to have the hotend side done soon. (as long as I can stay in town for a bit)

I ordered those connectors, and can verify they are 8mm threads. The ptfe has popped out on more than one occasion, found I need a wee bit of kapton tape on the end to make it stick in. Let me know how yours turns out. Would like to see the mk4 end on the hot side; maybe we need a cap that can fit on the top of the peek to hold the tube, or just thread the connector directly to the peek?

I am going to order some of those connectors. I will have a better idea what they are as soon as it comes in.

Allows the PTFE to push it, then you press down on the collars to release it. Makes it very simple to swap/maintain etc.

I don't think that I can use those with the small diameter PTFE.

What kind of push-fit connectors were you thinking? I have seen some people just use a locknut and thread it on the outside of the PTFE then use a dab of superglue for strength.

I was inspired by Lawsy quick release system for the hotends. It seems that would work very well as a PTFE Tubing end piece holder. Most of the design is just MK4 remastered. I have a hole some where in my design so I haven't been able to print this yet. (that and I am waiting for a replacement hotend) Just thought that I would put it up here and let everyone tell me why it won't work before I get too far.


The PTFE Tubing is 2mm ID x 4mm OD.
mcmaster.com has it in that size in lengths as little as 5 feet. I am still working on a mount for the hotend. I am hoping to borrow ideas for the X-carriage from nlancaster.

The tensioner arm is beefed up from the original. It is what I am using on my MK4. The one that came with the MK4 seemed to be a little weak for me.
