			<content type="html"><![CDATA[<p>I&#039;ve added a few extras to Domino, so she just about done, except for the paint job.</p><p><span class="postimg"><img src="http://digistealth.com/Public/Hosted/Sci-Fi%20Girl_2.jpg" alt="http://digistealth.com/Public/Hosted/Sci-Fi%20Girl_2.jpg" /></span></p><p>I also got a cheap dial indicator at Sears to level my print bed after I add the glass surface.&nbsp; I printed Ian Johnson&#039;s dial holder, unfortunately it didn&#039;t fit well on my SD3 print head.&nbsp; So I went ahead and remodeled the piece in Solidworks.&nbsp; The resulting piece works quite well, and is held in place with 4 neodymium magnets</p><p><span class="postimg"><img src="http://digistealth.com/Public/Hosted/Dial%20Indicator_sm.jpg" alt="http://digistealth.com/Public/Hosted/Dial%20Indicator_sm.jpg" /></span></p><p>I&#039;m thinking about drilling holes in the corner of the print bed, and embedding some magnets in there, then adding a adhesive metal strip to the edge of the glass, so everything is held in place magnetically.&nbsp; I found the when I use document clips on the corners, it applies enough pressure to deflect the glass downward in the corners.&nbsp; Additionally, the document clips get in the way sometimes, so I&#039;d rather try something different.</p>]]></content>

			<content type="html"><![CDATA[<p>The banding (as sad as it is to say) is normal.&nbsp; It&#039;s related to backlash on the z-screw.&nbsp; There are a number of fixes for this, and more being developed as we speak.&nbsp; You can reduce it using a printed part, a 5/16 18 nut and a spring, but unless you replace the z-screw, you can&#039;t remove it entirely.</p><p>Search for z-wobble to see what&#039;s available and being developed.</p>]]></content>

I noticed all the ridges in the female, is that typical of prints or does the solidoodle let you print a &#039;draft&#039;?&nbsp; (sorry, every new to 3d prints)</p><p>very cool though! love em <img src="https://www.soliforum.com/img/smilies/wink.png" width="15" height="15" alt="wink" /></p></blockquote></div><p>Marvin the Matian is quite rough.&nbsp; In those images, the helmet is snaded, the head, body and arms are natural (as printed), and the feet and helmet broom were brushed with acetone, which gives them the shine.</p><p>I started to work on him the other day, and I&#039;m using modelling putty to fill in the tiny gaps and groves before I prep him for painting.</p><p>The girl is pretty much how it came out of the printer.&nbsp; When I took those pictures I had only cleaned up the lower part of her right leg.</p><p>As for the ridges, that seems to be what some of my prints look like, and I wish I knew what caused it.&nbsp; Each &quot;ridge&quot; repeats every 8-10 layers.&nbsp; It&#039;s not a side to side shift, becuase what appears &quot;inset&quot; or pushed in on one side, is not pushed out on the opposite end.&nbsp; Rather it appears that every few layers, the overall perimeter of the model is either &quot;swollen&quot; or &quot;constricted&quot;, like a ripple.</p><p>If this was occurring only in a few places, I would think it was due to some kind of movement or wobble, but it&#039;s occuring throughout the entire vertical build with nearly perfect spacing, so I&#039;m wondering if this is some slicing artifact.&nbsp; I used Slic3r to slice this, becuase I was having a hard time slicing the hand with the gun in KiSSlicer.&nbsp; Skeinforge is a lost cause to me, it fails to slice anything, so I no longer bother.</p><p>I&#039;ll try KiSSlicer again on a single part just to see if it produces the same ridges.</p>]]></content>
