Thanks Tin,

For the price I paid for mine, I'm tempted to do much the same.

I was going to hack an arduino into the system and bypass the XYZ motherboard, and only use their power supply to feed the steppers.

Overkill, but I was a process engineer in a past life. Glad this wasn't work. 16 hours of troubleshooting would have had the boss breathing down my neck.

Hmm like I said I know enough about XYZ to stay away from them.
That said I have a friend that loves his . He is a retired college professor and MENSA member. yes certified genius.

His fix for such issues was flash the machine with Repitier firmware then use repitier host to package to slice and control the machine . he also denied the machine any internet access by shutting down the home router while using the machine. While wireless access can be good not so much with XYZ as they have built in call home protocols and like to do automatic "updates" .
It seem the only way to enjoy a an xyz machine is to heavily modify or figure out work arounds to the software firmware issues and even mod the machine itself.
And of course the other option is gut the electronics and rebuild the machine with a more genic supported board.
I hope this information helps.

Tin

Thanks Tin.

I've got an old ferrite choke I found here - I'll put it on the cable, and see if that makes a difference.

Failing that, I'll find another 2m - 3m cable.

I left layer height at 0.3mm as I'm commissioning a second hand printer.

Regards,

A

(edit - on reflection, it's a software issue within the same machine that creates the file. THe error happens before the serial transfer,, but it costs nothing to try a ferrite choke, so I will. I'll report by exception.)

sounds like this unnamed issue could be any number oaf things, something as simple as a usb cord going bad.
It could be a glitch in windows 10 again not unheard of.
also go back and check your settings. A goofy layer height setting will kill slicing.
Sometimes a little operator headspace can causes problems.

I would suggest octoprint as an option but a quick goolge show not the easiest thing for xyz

hope this helps

Possibly
First of all XYZ printers are huge expensive paperweights . marketed as 3d printers to folks that do not know any better. That said some folks here can actually print with them
second of all asking a question in the subject line not best practice .
Third of all I have no idea what you are actually asking.
I am guessing you are having issues connecting your computer to your printer .
the xyz is an odd beast so I do not know what driver the computer is looking for.

Forgive me if i came across as harsh . But imho the fact is the only good department in the xyz company is marketing. They offer no tech support and not well manufactured.
and I wish I had a dollar for every one who has come here looking for help.
I do not own a xyz davinci and never will .

So repost your question and possible someone can help.
