I had the oozing and tangling problem the other day too. The culprit was a filament guide tube pulling the filament too taught. After removing the tube I have yet to have the same problem.

It was flush before I installed it but after an hour or so into a print it protrudes about 2mm above the peek.

That's PTFE, and the fact it's moving up isn't great.

Usually it's fine, but if the filament is getting too warm before feeding into the hotend, or the hotend isn't hot enough (resulting in excessive force to extrude) then it'll do that.
