@jjcuff1 & @BFresh Slicer config is attached. I can't guarantee that I haven't messed with it since that print. The important parts are Ian Johnson's .1 config but with a .05 layer height.

@DePartedPrinter It was a while ago now but I think it was about 4 or 5 hours for the tree frog. You can really feel the difference when you run your finger down their backs. I think .1 prints look so good already that it starts to get harder to impress beyond that. I did .075 once and was not impressed with the difference. .05 is a noticeable jump but takes a long time to print too.

@jefferysanders Sadly, homedepot.ca does not appear to have that pack or anything similar nor are the staff aware of anything when I've visited locally. But thanks. Hopefully some of our American friends will benefit from that one. Thanks for sharing.

@pcpoirier Never heard of Ace Hardware. There's one I could get to but hopefully I will source something close to home. Thanks for the tip.

Do you notice a big difference in quality between .1 and .05?

Also, how long did it take to print the frog at .05?

As my printer has been getting more and more dialed in, (thanks to Ian Johnson, Lawsy, and Rincewind among others), I have been trying smaller and and smaller layer heights. I went from .3 to .1 to .075 and now .05!

Forgive my horrible photo skills. The middle frog is at 0.05 mm layer height. The ones on either side are at 0.1 mm. That's a Canadian quarter which is basically the same size as an American one for purposes of scale.

All of these prints are from before I tightened down my surprisingly loose print head and applied the banding firmware fix. I'd like to play more with ridiculously small layer heights but I just don't have the time. LOL

My printer is a SD2 with full options. I replaced the metal case with Acrylic panels glued to magnets. I destroyed my Sanguino accidentally and replaced it with an Azteeg X3. I print on cheap 2 or 3 mm framing glass held in place with rubberized binder clips. I recommend Garnier Fructis hairspray for my Canadian friends and not Pantene Pro V. I hope the Pantene holds hair better than it does plastic. For small objects at small layer heights, a fan is essential. While my Azteeg supports a G-Code controlled fan, I tend to leave it off in Slicer and run the fan manually. Still working on that. To direct the cooling I'm using the shortened modification of someone else's modification of Ian Johnson's fan duct. Apologies to the guys I can't remember. Z axis slop is countered with a nut and spring made of rubber O rings and washers while I continue to search for the perfect spring. Does anyone have a good spring source?

My only other tip to share with newbies looking to get this far is read Ian Johnson's blog. All of it. And lots here on Soliforum as well. Cheers everyone.
