<![CDATA[SoliForum - 3D Printing Community — Custom Die Diameters?]]> 2020-04-12T19:40:15Z PunBB https://www.soliforum.com/topic/18521/custom-die-diameters/ <![CDATA[Re: Custom Die Diameters?]]> Yes, you can drill your own nozzle, but keep in mind it isn’t a direct 1:1 relationship.  Eg in ABS a 1.6mm hole might result in 1.75mm filament, while that same 1.6mm would give you 1.5-1.6mm PLA typically (which is why people drill out some to a larger hole).  You would just have to experiment to really know.  Just don’t expect that it is simply “I need 0.58mm filament, so I’ll drill a 0.58mm hole.”

I am new to the forum and have a question, I have been trying to order monofilament from manufacturers but they don't usually make the monofilament out of the nylon I want to use (nylon 12) in the diameters I want without great expense!

I have come across a few desktop extruders and I am a complete noob, but wonder if I can make my own. I see that the Filastruder Kit comes with 2 die options, and a third that isn't drilled.

If I used the blank die and drilled a 0.58mm hole for example, do you think the Filastruder kit would be able to extrude monofilament to this much smaller non standard diameter?
