It is a hobby for most of us so you get to make your own choices.
I have yet to invest in a really quality board myself.
and I did blow an arduino board building my first kit . so no criticism from me.
Also if you want to upgrade to a better board I would not wait too long .
In my experience you build a kit then forget the finer points. after a few weeks to months then you need to climb the curve the next build.

I know i'll most likely hear about the choice i made. The reason I chose to go the route i did wasnt't the cost of the new board it was the cost if i screw something up learning, its cheaper to replace an Arduino and ramps if i was to damage it learning. I will upgrade to a better board down the road. I feel the hardware i bought will be hold up fine for the time being, Seeing how the Sang board held up as long as it did for me. RAMPS1.6+, 12864LCD, & a 30A SSR to reroute the power off the board for the HALE bed heater. Also, no more "SD3" Bare metal case. Printer is now satin espresso brown & white & satin cleared.
