I had primarily been concentrating on email support since the advice that I have seen from the community on Soliforum was almost always timely and accurate. In hindsight, this was a mistake as it gives the appearance that the project has been abandoned. I will be focusing more attention on the Soliforum site and watching it more closely. Unfortunately, the download site has been down for some time now. my other main laptop I use has trouble connecting to your web page as likely others do, so this forum is only way to contact you for support for many. I messaged you using my newer laptop as I swap off every other month to keep both ready to use as standby if one should quit.
also some members here that dont have experience with the Atlas scanner & its propitiatory software should not give advice as it can cause worse issues instead of helping as it did for me.
I use cat 5 to connect as the WIFI is very poor on pi

Did you try installing from a fresh SD of Raspbian? I did not have much issue getting the freeware software up and running from scratch following the bit of info on the https://github.com/hairu/freelss main page.
There are maybe one or two dependencies that have changed. Is that what you were trying to do? There was also a issue with the autostart that had to do with file privileges.
As for burning a new image on an mSD, the best program to do that is Etcher (see https://www.balena.io/etcher/ ).
As for Raspbian, you should be okay with the light version if you don't need the desktop - otherwise you can disable it afterwards (see https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/raspbian/).
Finding the ip address is easy enough if you log onto your router and scan ip addresses.
It's also important to have a utility to access the Pi. I like MobaXterm - (see https://mobaxterm.mobatek.net/)
I've been interested in being able to align the lasers with servos since they can easily move out of alignment. I have something that sort of works but it's not optimal.

]]>If it where me and scanning was that important to me I would be looking at different hardware or hardware/software solutions since the support for this software is spotty at best. There are many higher end scanning packages out there and other techs such as structured light using the kinect and there is also photogammetry that works very well as well and only requires a phone a camera.
If you are just scanning figurines and things like that then I guess scanning is easier than CAD. But for technical items scanning will still not work that well as the scale will not be precise. If you print a 30mm cube then scan it then use the point cloud to generate a texture and convert that texture to stl to print again the I seriously doubt the new print will be exactly 30mm and that can be a problem if doing machine parts or even parts that just need to fit together. I think drawing and CAD are still the only reliable and accurate ways to reproduce with dimensional accuracy technical items.
