i must be using the new version of xyz because in the advanced settings i can adjust temp, speed and a few other bits. i just did not know if the adjusted settings was applied to the print on the junior. but i think they are.

It is recommended to identify the optimal temperature experimentally for each batch of filament of different color or different brand.

where do i adjust the nozzle temperature on the junior ?. i thought that all the settings for each filament was pre set in the machine.

the calibration pin next to the extruder and the metal islands at the corners of the bed, they contact to make a circuit.
That said I use the sheet of paper bed calibration process, start the printer, and when it has just started to print turn it off. this freezes the head over the bed, a sheet of paper is inserted as a feeler gauge, and the head moved manually to a point over an adjuster, the adjuster is tightened or loosened until you can just slide the paper around with a little friction, then do the same for the other adjuster screws, once all three are a sliding fit, recheck and you are good to go - a lot less faff than using the built in calibration.

]]> https://www.soliforum.com/user/18084/ 2018-01-24T23:16:57Z https://www.soliforum.com/post/141962/#p141962 <![CDATA[Re: help please with clicking sound]]> Hello, Yes I learned a helpful trick to stop the extruder clicking sound.  The reason for the clicking sound is the extruder is too close to the glass platform and there is no room for the filament to come out.  Here is the trick....  As soon as you start hearing the clicking noise, if the extruder is on the right side of the platform you can slightly adjust the A position screw down (move right) until the clicking noise stops.  CAUTION if you turn the adjustment screw the WRONG way you could cause the extruder to crash into the bed.  Even after I've run calibration several times I would still get the clicking sound on one side or the other of the platform.  But remember to use common sense when doing this because where ever the extruder starts clicking means that area needs to go down a small bit.  Try to visualize how the 3 adjustment screws effect the platform and be careful not to burn yourself on the extruder or bed!!!  And if you are able to to stop the clicking noise during print using this method, you can stop the print and go back and run a calibration to see what the new numbers are.  The bad thing with this printer is there is some slop in the Z axis.  I've run calibration and not even touch the adjustment screws and run calibration again and the numbers change!!  But remember to get a feel for how the platform behaves before trying this!  Let me know if this works and be CAREFUL! Don't try it unless your confident!  Also it is very important that you clean the areas that meet during calibration!  Use alcohol and a fine grain sand paper on that brass point on the extruder.  You must have a good electrical contact or you will get crazy results!  I've wasted a many hours because of this.

1. Increase printing temperature.
2. unclog the throat and clean the nozzle.

It is generally good idea to run out some filament when changing filament. mixed filament in nozzle may increase risk of clog.

]]> https://www.soliforum.com/user/17164/ 2018-01-13T16:42:05Z https://www.soliforum.com/post/141615/#p141615 <![CDATA[help please with clicking sound]]> hello everyone. iam new to 3d printing.. i have just purchased a brand new xyz jr 1 printer. i have set this up as per instructions and printed out a demo with the supplied filament (came out fine) very pleased.. i then changed the filament for some green that i bought at the same time as the printer. it loaded fine and i started to print a small planter that i designed in tinkercad. for some reason i get a clicking sound as its pulling the pla through, not all the time though. when the print finished 6 hours later it cam out ok but i could see around the edge of the planter that some of the layers were thinner than others, i think this was when it was clicking. is there any fix for this. thanks for reading.
