I am thinking about getting one of these printers.
They seem to be pretty well documented and ready for tinkering.
Any regrets? Would you do it again?

Again I got this one " Used " on e -bay for IIIRC 129 dollars.
it works out of the box it is a solidi little machine.

Now for the negatives. These are small but observations. The buildtak type plate did not last. it holds pla realy well and does not want to let go.

So i printed a little mod removed the build material and put a small glass plate on.

The Pinter interface seems a little awkward and limited options . the color screen looks like a touch screen so one want to touch it to make it work. then you need to touch the knob. To touch the knob you have to reach under the build plate. so not the best human engineering. third the firmware is not open source so you can not go in and mod it to your liking like Marlin.
4th it is questionable what materials this machine can really handle.
So do I regret buying this machine no I do not. Does it have the true open source capability I would like to se again the anser is no.
Another option is the power spec from Wahao
A little lower on the retail defending where you purchase and the control placement seems better. it is basically a mirror image of the machine I have. The power supply is built into the base. And it has a more basic control that appears to have a few more features. But you are loosing the heat bed.

http://www.microcenter.com/single_produ … fa3f1f8121

And then there is this one
https://www.gearbest.com/3d-printers-3d … 57480.html

This one does have touch screen control but again they ditched the heated bed.
And it appears the touch screen is readily accessible.

And at less than $ 200 one can always gut one of these add a ramps board and hack to there hearts desire.

All three have decent reviews on you tube and will print out of the box and are a good value.

Can any of them accept marlin and really be tuned I can not answer that. I just do not know.

What i do know is mono price hit a home run with the mini at this price point and other manufacturers are rushing to get there own version to market. So expect to see more variations on this theme.

So I guess pick the one that seem right for you and give us a review.

Respectfully
Tin Falcon

As far as would I purchase this machine if I had to do it over. I really do not know the choises change like every week

Be warned any three D printer you need to learn slicing programs.

The stock setting works mostly for ABS and PLA. The max hotend temperature is 230C, and the max bed temperature is 60C. the bowden setup and aluminum print bed are the limiting factors. Since it don't have case, the printing of ABS in cold temperature are also questionable. However, people have put all kinds of mod on it and able to print bout anything on them. You can even extend the bed to 250X120X120mm.

https://mpselectmini.com/mods

I have had this Pinter for a couple weeks now . Have not done any printing since the show. I did have the printer running at the show. I need to slice my file with increased retract had it set for 1 mm seems like 2 mm is what this machine likes at least according to the settings i downloaded for it.
I am a little confuses as to the materials it will really print. this printer comes with a stock "E3D Hotend" wit is an upgrade from v1 however the spec sheet says it is a an ABS/ pla machine.
the select will print just about anything.

No problem. I only have Monoprice Select Mini V1. It do recognize .gco extension file, but file with other extension will not display. Since you have Monoprice Select Mini V2, I'm not sure it will recognize .gco file.

One thing I don't like about this machine is the direction of the knob, it would be a lot easier if the direction is reversed. I also highly recommend this knob, it make the knob turning a lot easier. Don't print in gray color though.

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1677768

Be careful when you take out the orginal knob, you need to take out the front panel before remove the knob in my V1, I thought I can just unplug it from front and end up made some imperfect damage. Luckly it is not obvious and don't affect the use.
