Trying to accelerate or run a motor too fast can cause issues. Basically any friction will be exaggerated at higher speeds. That being said, high speeds will also show other problems such as incorrect VREF. In your case probably too low of voltage. Remember when adjusting VREF, a little goes a long way. Always use a non conducive screwdriver to turn the POT.

Thanks ill try messing with that tonight. Just so i am a 100 percent, running the steppers too slow or fast can cause binding right? if so do you know if binding occurres more often when going too slow or too fast.

Hi, I was hoping for some help. I am using a da vinci 1.1 plus converted to use marlin RC8 with a ramps 1.4 board. I have upgraded the extruder to a E3D V6 and just installed a Bltouch auto bed leveler(no clones).
I am having an issue with the Z axis binding when homing only, it goes up and down the entire length of the threaded rod without issue when not homing. Another weird bit is it only binds sometimes also If I manual spin the rod the z axis starts moving again.

My question is can a software issue cause this? When I get off tonight I am going to try messing with the steppers pot. Any chance that could help? Any other ideas?

Thanks
