hello, I am brand new to this forum but the first thing I saw was the Fila strudel and I had already thought up an idea for recycling my PLA (I have a da Vinci, so getting it to print would be a different issue)
If this is in the wrong sub forum, then please move it for me, but it seemed appropriate here.
I just want to know if my idea may work before I go thru all the work of trying it out. I realize it would be very dificult to get right at first (as I'm sure the Filastruder was, but once you got the recipe right, it should be fine)
It would also be fairly cheap to do, but keeping the results consistent would be the hardest part. Again, based upon your recipe. But I was thinking about do solving PLA in Ethyl Acetate to a consistency of putty, and then extruding via a large syringe with an appropriate sized "needle "
You would need the minimal ammount of Ethyl acetate so the extruder material would not deform. Maybe even point a fan at the extruded material to help speed along evaporation. It would be dificult to perfect but very cheap to do and once you did it, you could get a recipe of X grams of PLA to X grams of Ethyl acetate. If anybody thinks this might work, or can tell me some definite reasons why it would not, I would greatly appreciate it. Please don't tell me how I'm wasting my time or it would be dificult, I'm looking for concrete reasons why it wouldn't work, not to be discouraged from trying it simply because it would be hard to master. Thank you in advance.
