I have done it! whoohoo!

the other half bought me the Atlas 3d Scanner kit for Christmas, and I purchased the acrylic enclosure for it.. got the electronics the Saturday before New Years & spent a couple of days figuring out the software side. Finally got the enclosure kit today (slight delay due to a hardware outage, no big deal tho) - got it all assembled, lasers and camera calibrated, got the turntable turning completely around (thanks wardjr!) could still use some tweaking, but it works - and tried scanning a couple of different things...

Lighting definitely has a big impact on the scan results... my first couple of attempts had big holes in them from bad lighting... the scanner just couldn't "see" the areas.. turned on a secondary light source and it made a HUGE difference... got this from my 4th attempt...

it is not a perfect scan by any means, but I am a happy camper right now.

who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks? 53 yrs young and still learning new things every day!
