The motors are not temperature monitored and will not tell you if they are getting too hot. They will just fail as yours is. However it could also be a failing driver on the main board. If you have one of the older models try swapping the extruder driver for one of the others on the board. The older model has the drivers in sockets. Where as the second gen 1.0 is mixed with socket and possibly direct solder. Then the third gen 1.0 has no sockets. You need to try to narrow the possibilities. It could even be a bad connection or power supply giving out.

sorry I only use ABS and by hack, the wrong word it seems, is the cartridge resetter. I had a brain fart and couldn't get the word resetter out. I'll try again
I am having a strange problem with my Da Vinci 1.0 in that it feeds the filament and 20 minutes or so it continues printing but no filament is coming out. I cancel and do the load filament thing but it won't feed. Leave it a couple hours and it feeds and when I try to print the same thing happens. The nozzle is hot and all parts are functioning except the filament feed. Is the feed motor on the way out or overheating? as it does get hot but then it has a warning that states it gets hot.
Its new out of the bag filament and I have tried a few different brands and all have same problem so I have ruled out the filament as the cause. the printer is a bog standard Da Vinci.
Its the standard Da Vinci nozzle. I only use ABS in this machineas my other reprap type machine is using PLA without a problem.
Pete

What hack do you mean? Have you modified the hot end? The 1.0 can only print ABS without modifications to the hot end. Also if you go from ABS to PLA you have to feed a meter or so of PLA through the hotend at ABS temps to flush all the ABS out. Otherwise it will clog since PLA melts at a lower temp than ABS.
