Not sure how your soldering skills are but a MOSFET would require soldering while a solid state relay would not.

If you updated the firmware, did your run the PID or where the changes just made in regards to the lead screw?
You might want to rerun the PID for the bed.

Alternatively, we also have a well respected heatbed called the Hale that can heat to 100c in as little as 3min when used with a good PSU like the Supernight
