Z steps can be changed via RH without reloading firmware.
Did you load the same firmware you were using ?
What printer do you have.
sounds like some settings are different check your x and y max settings

Had to re due firmware (marlin) on a ramps 1.4 board and now it only prints on the far edge of the glass? I am not sure why?
