Hi Pete,

Many people have their own preferred way of drying filament.

Leaving your rolls of filament in an air tight container with some silica gel is a good way to store filament. This may take the moisture out over time.

You can use an oven at around 60 or 70degrees to dry out your spools. However, be careful as PLA starts to soften at only a tiny bit above these temperatures so don't go too hot with the oven otherwise you'll just end up with a clump of plastic.

If you have a boiler for your central heating you can leave it on top of that for a while?

Thanks guys. Changed rolls and nozzle and problem went away. Another thing learned about PLA
How can I safely dry the filament as I have over 3/4 kg left on the roll and don't want to waste it

How old is this filament and how long has it been in the open air. It looks like moisture to me.

What is all the discoloration in the print? Do you extrude your own PLA? I assume you are printing in white. It looks like dirty snow. I really can't see what your problem is. Someone with a little more expertise will chime in soon. I'll keep an eye on this thread, maybe I can learn somethin......

print problem

My kit printer has been working well until last night when this print turned out too thin(?) Any ideas as to a fix?
I didn't change any settings and have not had a power failure so can't work out what happened or how to repair the problem. I have attached a pic to show the problem. Its PLA filament and
it hasn't been a problem before.
