(SOLVED) print bed quits dropping part way through print.

the last times I have tried to print at around 20% complete the print bed quits lowering down but the Printer keeps trying to print. so I end up with a nozzle clog. it has now done that with the last 4 prints. the bed can be raised and lowered manually with no problem. any ideas why the bed is not lowering.

I swapped the stepper controller (botstep) for the x and z axis and the problem went to the x axis.
