Fwiw the mods I copied from MacGyverX are the best part of the best parts of my Press. Just tonight I finally finished installing the heated bed upgrade he recommended. The parts sat for a year and I have a Prusa i3 on the way in a few weeks but I'm still glad I did it. And the hotend mod was a major improvement over stock. It's the only reason I got any decent prints out of the machine.

A flawed setup

IMHO most if not all hobby level 3d printers will be flawed. MY I 3 has junk for z axis rods .......

This hobby is about buying the best one can afford and the best deal of the day and learning to make it work,
Unfortunately the "plug and play machines" are not necessary easier to use but are harder to upgrade /mod / repair.

I left this message in the another topic section, also may remind you that
it is not worth to spend money and time on a SD press printer, it
is failing design, so better to buy a simple Prusa i3($200-300) instead of
upgrading SD press.

on X, Y, Z carriages, just made holes on the general plastic
such as ABS or similar one that only used for enclosure or

They have very different friction coefficient, wear strength

wear out quickly, do you like to replace those carriages?
So I think it is not worth to spend money and time on SD press."

I don't like to discuss other issues, I didn't see any good prints that made
by SD press, maybe there are few pieces, but few thousands failing
SD press printers in the current market.

Are you able to print these objects that I designed and made by a simple Prusa i3?

thanx, i'll try lid closed. I have it open for a cable holder that sits up high over the middle of the printer.

that's most likely due one of these factors:

- voltage calibration for each of the axis: fixes a load of print quality issues
- print temperature / too low/high or drafts if you print with the top is open
- print speed (critical)
- retraction (in some sense)

I still have some minor delamination happening here and there, but for the most part I can produce some clean parts if i go at 50-100% speed. At 200% speed and above, i get a lot of pooling in sharp angles but all of it can be sanded down.

Nice work. I have a lot of mods too, but if I print an object over 1.5" high, it always delaminates in the high parts.
Did any particular mod clear that problem for you?

I can finally say I have solved all my issues with the Press.

What a rocky road on such a lemon of a printer:

and now 20 hour print without the terrible issues with the bowden setup that was recommended by MacGyverX. I thank him for his effort but very flawed setup. The PTFE tube kept coming out because of the constant friction on the tubing. Also the print bed couldn't be leveled and now I've finally solved it by installing some risers and using a 3 way level.

Fine tuned repetier, now i print at 300% speed and going like a speed demon.
