Hi,

After getting back into tabletop gaming, we decided to 'take it up a notch' and 3d print map tiles from the Openforge set on Thingiverse.

We used the printers at work for a couple of test pieces (we work at a school and so have access to a few Da Vinci's) and were happy with the results and as luck would have it a cheap unit came up on eBay and we now have our own 1.0A.

Anyway things were going fine until we printed a doorway, we forgot to turn on supports and it promptly turned into a stringy mess.

After a few red faces we turned on supports and reprinted.

However this has presented a new problem. The walls have simulated bricks and it wants to put supports between every brick! Now it doesn't need supports there as it's a very small overhang and when they are in it looks horrendous and is almost impossible to clean out.

We tried a few programs and thought we found a winner with meshmixer as you can manually add supports and save them back to the STL, however for some reason when you slice with XYZware it takes the supports back out.

I'm at a loss right now as to what to try next.

So any ideas (that doesn't involve reflashing the Da Vinci, we're not prepared to do that yet)?
