(knocks on wood)

the real test will come in trying a 2nd one right away...

at this point, all I did was adjust the pulley for the loop belt, and increase the vref just a little from where it was for the smaller motor and it seems to be working fine.
and just to be sure, I cleaned and re-lubed the rods and bushings again.

IMHO It will work . However you may notice a little reduced performance . The motor would be happier in a 24 v system .
the higher rotor inertia is also a small concern this could effect acceleration a bit.
I do not think it would hurt to try the motor. my concern is a little sluggish behavior. On the other hand you may not notice a difference. I would say a motor on hand is worth three in the warehouse. And why spend money on a new one if not needed. the most you have to loose is the time to swap it in and out to test.

On days like this I wish i had the wisdom of Opa( Dutch for Grandpa. A stepper motor expert . Distant relative )
Respectfully
Tin

Ok, so after sitting idle for a little while, I recently fired up the #2 SD4 (running on a Rumba) for a big print job (multiple pieces) it ran the first pair just fine, no issues at all..
On the 2nd run it started skipping on the Y axis...

Checked everything over - belts are in good condition and adjusted properly. No binding anywhere when moving by hand, all bearings/bushings recently lubed. Everything moves smoothly

Tried adjusting the vref with no luck...

swapped out stepper driver (twice) and adjusting the vref on that - still skipping...

I am at the point of considering a motor swap, but the problem is, I don't have a spare of the exact same size.
I do, however, have one that is a little taller... (stock one on the right)

I looked up the specs for both and this is what I have come up with..

Aside from the obvious size difference and voltage differences, will this thing work?
The board side connector appears to be wired the same way as the stock one was.
This motor is from the defunct Sintron kossel kit (i have 3 more just like it) that was supposed to run on a Ramps 1.4 board..
