An excellent point. That hadn't crossed my mind!

It appears if you don't do this, all sorts of weird things happen. Previous results are rubbish so I am editing that post so as not to confuse people.

Make sure you recalibrate the lasers after making changes such as these, by clicking the "Calibrate Lasers" button with the calibration item oriented correctly.

Well, on closer inspection it seems my Z value was out by 100mm due to a typo. Probably fairly important...

Also as Uriah mentions below, after any settings changes you must recalibrate the lasers!

Measure the distance from the face of the camera to the center of the turntable, and make sure it matches the Laser left & right Z value (usually 10.5") on the settings Atlas settings page. That will govern the height.

Measure the distance from the center of the laser to the center of the camera on both left and right sides. These are the Laser X values. The left value should be entered as a negative number. This will give you the correct width.

Im pretty happy with the visual quality of the scans I am getting now, but I have some pretty serious scaling issues. Attached is an STL of a test block I scanned. This is a 3D printed block which measures 40 x 40 x 100 mm. The STL generated from the FreeLSS point cloud looks excellent, it has straight sides and looks right, but it measures 21.5x21.5x74mm. So my X and Y dimensions are about 50% under size and the Z dimension is about 75% under size.

Does this point to any particular calibration setting which I may have incorrect?
