Any ideas?]]> 1. Take your hotend apart to see and test if sensor is in fault. Maybe it's fixable.
2. I'm not 100% sure if 1.0 has all metal or PTFE lined hotend. If all metal then you're all fine, if PTFE lined then you need new hotend as well hence after 250c PTFE will melt.
3. I'd say it's good time to get E3D v6 or E3D Lite6 (depends on your print mete rial choice).
Just search for E3D upgrades and you'll find plenty.
4. On the other side 100USD isn't as bad, E3D v6 upgrade will cost you pretty much the same including 3D printing services hence you're unable to print all necessary mounts etc yourself.

At the time I was using black PLA filament by MakerGeeks.

I was heating up my extruder using Repetier-Host and accidentally set it to the highest temperature (260°C) which wasn't such a great idea.
I decided to try and extrude a few milimeters (another bad decision).
After that, I tried to unload the filament. It was stuck and was making a clicking sound, it wouldn't budge.
I had to pull it out by force, and I'm pretty sure that broke the filament sensor because now it won't detect when I try loading the filament.
So I It looked greyish white at the end, I clipped it off, and tried loading it, no luck.

I'm pretty sure I'll need to buy a new extruder, they cost $99 from the official source.

So what I'm asking is...
1. Is there anything I can do to fix this issue without buying a new extruder?
2. If not, and I do have to buy a new extruder, what can I do to prevent this from happening again?
3. Is there cheaper alternatives than the official source?
(Keep in mind I already voided the warranty by installing repetier, so the warranty isn't an issue for me.)
