That is how I clean the nozzle and barrel from any hardened plastic. But be careful using MEK use protective gloves. In a well ventilated area. People also use acetone to clean but it makes the plastic gummy where as MEK dissolves it.

The theory is simple, any plastic will completely burn / melt off long before you'd get brass or steel hot enough to be an issue. A propane torch should be more than enough to get the job done.

You should be able to find other filastruder threads that mention "barrel cleaning" that go into actual details.

I have followed the instructions by heating up nozzle then turning off heat and slowly turning the nozzle every minute. I now have the nozzle out but there is small bits of residual hard cold filament on my nozzle and coupling making it hard for me to get the nozzle or a different diameter nozzle back in. Any suggestions would be appreciated
