I've been using the blue painter's tape as well (the thick rolls). As long as you are diligent in matching up the seams, there is no problem. Any overhang can be trimmed with small scissors; It doesn't have to match the exact edge of the glass like the initial squares and can actually be a bit sloppy... you're just wanting to trim off enough so the overhang doesn't snag wires or anything during printing.

Heres another example of bed adhesion prob.
1st print didnt lift.
Same slicer config, temp,etc, except this is a first time use of a diff. brand ABS and color.

If you have a DaV, why are you using tape on a heated glass bed for ABS ?

The issue of objects sticking "too well" on a glass bed is
1) Not letting the bed cool. If youre in a hurry, spraying a dust buster upside down, after some cooling, against the print, aids in pop off.
2) Crappy glass.

Using the original glass on my 1.0 seemed to be always a prob.
A thin coat of ABS slurry was the only solution I found that would aid prints to stick and release.
When the glass finally got replaced, w/ a good after market one, the difference was remarkable.

My second un-modded DaV is a 1.0A, noticed the glass is better and have had no probs, that I had w/ the 1.0.

I had this same issue and a few threads below this one I included a photo of my print on a bed of ABS. acetone slurry. That method worked really well and I had 0 warping. But it also took some time to remove the part from the bed and it also pulled off the tape that came with the printer.

Also I have found that the tape that comes with the printer is not the same quality as the blue painters tape you can by at a home depot. The blue tape provided a much better adhesion to the bed the and supplied tape. If for any reason the blue tape is not enough all alone, I do the ABS Slurry. That system has yet to fail on any printers on my 1.0 pro.

Good idea! Ive heard the ABS + Acetone mix is really great for bed adhesion. Verging on almost too great - the part becomes welded to the bed

For ABS, Ive been using pieces mixed in acetone to create a milk like consistency.
The slurry is kept in a sealed jarto keep soft.
Ill have several jars w/ different colors. $1.50 at Michaels.
Keep a cut off brush inside
These hobby brushes lose hairs, so hit the crimp on both sides to tighten and pull any loose hairs.

For PLA, HairNet Extra hold un-scented. Decant the spray into the same setup adding alittle Isopropyl alcohol.

Have you tried the pritt stick method? It has always worked for us really well so I definitely recommend it. Otherwise you could always use masking tape.

The tape it comes with is just basic blue painters tape. Elmers purple glue stiks on bare glass work well also.

Hi guys

We've been having a great time printing with our Da Vinci Pro 1.0 however we've come up against an issue, the bed adhesive tape or whatever it is called, has run out, we've used all the sheets due to tears and spots ripping off.

I've seen other users using prit stick on the bed, masking tape etc, but were still having issues getting the prints to adhere to the bed during printing.

Can anyone suggest some ideas?
