Ok, I just setup RH on my old netbook running Lubuntu latest version. To take a portable version with me to school for the kids. The new Repetir host install could not be any easier compared to previous versions.

just download the zip file for linux form their site, unzip it to a folder. move the folder to your home directory and in a terminal run the .sh setup file. It creates all the dependacieces and installs mono as well as setting your permissions on the usb/serial port. It even installs a program launcher in the menu.

Run the program and just copy the settings form your windows PC for the printer settings. I kept both copies open and the linux version is up and working in 5 minutes.

you will have to download slicer separately , but same thing, just unzip it into your RH folder and restart RH, it should pick it up.

For slic3r , just copy the 3 folders from you windows pc that hold the settings. its under something likec"\user\app data\slic3r the folders you want are "print" "printer" and "filament" these folders hold all the ini. files that tell slic3r what to do. place them in your linux version of slic3r in the appropriate folder.

I am almost able to do so.
one last and very important thing.

i need to be able to use my SD3 with Ubuntu. (i started with and am use to repetier-host, so i would like to continue using it.)

i found the old page on the soliwiki http://wiki.solidoodle.com/linux info from 2012 yay! how valid is it still?
do i have to reflash my firmware again? (i just got this working... so at least i know how.)

so is it as simple as reflashing and setting the proper baud rate: 115200 for the port speed instead of 250000.
then install the tarball? what's all this about compiling repetier-host? (never done that before...)

and how do i get the custom settings for SD3?

i mean i have installed the latest repetier-host for windows... and it didn't have the settings so i had to go back and find the version distributed by Solidoodle...

is there a way to import the SD3 settings to the latest version of repetier-host? (1.6.1)

thanks in advance!
