Thanks for your answers! It seems there were two problems, both between the chair and the printer.

1. I didn't have my width set to 0.48.

2. I was squeezing the callipers too hard, and reading .45 instead of .65.

My .4 infill is looking much better now.

Is the single wall a single perimeter or a thin wall? Are you using S3D? S3D can do odd things if it isn't a single perimeter/no fill solid cube.

You can also take the approach of printing 100% infill, pull back the flow rate slider, and ease it in until the gaps disappear. I often find that the flow settings that make a correct extrusion width don't always give correct results for solid fill. .4 might be getting close enough to solid to use the other approach.

I recently installed e3d on my SD2 and have ironed almost all kinks.

The latest is that when I do .4 infill, it overextrudes and looks like this: https://www.simplify3d.com/support/prin … ch-plastic

It shouldn't. I've done 40% infill before and that didn't happen.

I have calibrated steps/mm and set it in firmware. I have tested a single walled print and set the extrusion multipler (to 0.99, miraculously).

I have entered an average of measurements of the filament diameter.

My e3d tip is .4mm, and my layer height is .3, extrusion width 0.42. I've read this might be wrong but I can't seem to find a guide to the relationship with the larger tip.

Printing at 230 (e3d's thermistor).

Any thoughts / help?
