Yep get an authentic Arduino, as for the RAMPS, if possible get one that has heatsinks on the FET and Regulator.. That shows the maker is a bit versed on quality and long term use of the board.

As far as RAMPS 1.4 shields, I have seen knockoffs that work fine and some that don't. The best ones are from RepRapDiscount:

I bought a pololu avr isp programmer to fix atmega644p and atmega1284p chips, but I notice for just a few extra bucks I could have had a RAMPS 1.4 + A4988 drivers + arduino mega.

Of course you can buy the same kit for any amount of money up to $100, so I'm wondering whether or not all these RAMPS 1.4 kits are created equal. I just want good functionality, but I don't need extra features.
