Seeing that the thermocouple is brand new from makerbot and it appears to be reading fine I'm guessing it's the heater since its years old. Does this sound logical?(only had this guy for a month) also I have a spare e3d cartridge floating around. Will this work. I'd prefer to not go through makerbot again Since the last time it took them a month and 13 bucks to ship a tiny thermocouple. Thanks a bunch!
Zach

The Makerbot is a 24 volt system. Your E3d cartridge is most likely a 12 volt one. I would buy another to be safe. If you want better deals on parts try this p[lace. I have a clone and it is where I get my parts..

http://unclechucks3dprinterstuff.com/index.htm
