I told "them" Replicator-G won't cut it anymore and that I was switching to Makerware.  If they didn't like that too *redacted* bad.   They wanted Rep-G because of reasons only they understood.

What it came down to...   I changed the filament size (smaller),  upped my flow-rates and added more layers.  Parts are MUCH better now.

So all's well that ends well.

I have never gotten good results with a single top solid layer. I generally use 3 top solid layers and get very nice results


Look up ReplicatorG, its ancient no longer supported software but aside from S3D it is the only one besides the makerbot desktop that will talk to a mightyboard. The biggest hang on RepG is that it uses Skeinforge which is a nightmare in both function and terminology.

I got Simplify3D which supports this printer directly with premade profiles that dial it right in form the beginning and supports the X3G format. I also got rid of the Mightyboard and went with an Azteeg X3 Pro. Unfortunately I never used their software enough to help you. But it looks like an issue with flowrate and maybe your feedrate is not calibrated for the nozzle.

Material is PLA,  temp is 202-205 (won't flow below 200,  turns into goosh above 207).    I've tried it with other PLA materials and gotten similar results.   Those materials range from 190 to 210 in temp.    Hotbed runs at about 50 to 65 depending on which material I am using>

Now I need to figure out how to fill in the top layer.   I've tried various infill patterns and %s going up to 75% and so far I can't get the top layer to fill in.   I end up with enormous gaps and holes,  same problem I had with the bottom.

Which line(s) in the G-code alter the top layer ?
