Craftware IMHO seems to be very close to  S3D.. You might want to check it out and it is free...

There is a cracked version floating around that I got a copy of to try if you can find it.. It is version 2 and unfortunately does not support dual extrusion. But it still gives a nice overview of the software.

So you still get a trial period so to speak, you just have to fork out the $149.
