yeah i already recalibrated all the settings in repetier and in the marlin h.config so its completely calibrated to the directions given. for some reason i get an occasional layer thicker than the others spitting out more plastic causing it to ripple off the side then it goes back to normal.

That sounds like possible inconsistencies in the filament itself - thicker in some places than in others causing over-extrusion.

have you done a proper filament calibration? beginning with measuring the filament in multiple places over a couple of yards to get an average diameter to enter into the slicing software?

Every roll will be different and this should be done for every new roll of filament you get.

as for upgrades, definitely do the Lawsy carriages - night and day difference once everything is recalibrated.
Highly recommend you get new hardened smooth rods as well - the stock rods wont hold up for long with bearings on them.
