The only 'problem' is that because it don't expand and contract as much as the window glass XYZ put in the printer it is a little harder to get the prints off the bed, but that's ok. If, or when, it chips I will just turn it over

I just happen to have a bit of 2.5mm think 200x200 aluminum. It isn't 3mm but I will give it a try and see how it works

Like I said I was able to get a replacement part from XYZ but had to send back my broken part. It took like 2-4 weeks to get it but I did. I was very persistent. So now I have a back up although it looks like jdholbrook33 replacement should last.

You know that warranty will mean shipping the machine to them in Tiawan at your cost should you ever need to make a claim. This is why you see so many laughing about the warranty. They rarely ship parts and instead expect you to ship the entire machine so they can do the work.
So there really is no reason to save the warranty. Just tear into the machine and mod your heart out. You will honestly thank yourself once all the XYZ devils have been removed.

Nope. But I did void, what they laughingly call, the warranty about an hour after the box was opened.
