One advice, I found that out the hard way ! check your trim pot on the X axis motor. If you have a fan on it you should be good, but if not, you're going to drive your motor beyond its power capabilities, it is just a NEMA14, and it overheat very quickly, missing steps and so on...

I adjested mine down, because I was missing steps after 30-40 min of printing.

Thanks for sharing guys!

My first piece of advice for anyone would be don't ask your question on the forum an hour before you plan to start the upgrade. LOL I was really lucky. Wired everything up correctly and it all worked immediately. This is not my usual experience with any project. I just used my Marlin config and some common sense to setup the smoothie config file and it all worked out.

I went 32X on all drivers and everything is quiet and smooth. I've got a little moire on the y axis but I think I need to tune my belt tension. Other than that it runs perfectly. I'm getting the nicest prints I've ever gotten out of it.

I really like this board and the whole config file thing. It's really easy to backup known good settings when experimenting.

I don't know if it's related to the new board but it does not work well with Octopi on a raspberry pi B+ with touchscreen. There are tons of micro-pauses causing micro-blobs. It makes a great bone texture for the T-Rex skull I printed but I can get smooth prints from my laptop using Repetier or the board's sd card. For now I'm just printing from the sd card. I can still use Octoprint to monitor temperature and send commands.

Hi guys,

I'm getting ready to replace a Sanguinololu board with the Azteeg X5 Mini. Has anyone done this on a Solidoodle 2 that would be willing to share their config file? I feel pretty confident that I've configured everything correctly but it would be nice to see one from a working machine. Also, a couple of questions:

1. Can / should I run 32x microstepping on all steppers? I'm using my marlin settings for steps per mm as a starting point. Would I need to double the number if enabling 32x? Marlin was based on 16x.

2. There doesn't seem to be anywhere to connect always on fans, led, etc. Can I connect these directly to the power supply?

3. Any other advice?

Thanks.
