I got my kossel printer kit from Folgers Tech in the mail 2 weeks ago... I was going to document and photo as I built.. well about 6 hours later and the frame built.... I figured it was to late. I have made notes in the build manual... It actually went really good.. 2 major issues.. the 2 linear rails and the ramps board.. 2 of the 3 linear rails were really rough and would not move once stopped, unless I used a little force.. I asked for replacements from Folgers Tech. and they sent them to me.. But the carriages(?) were smooth in one direction and rough in the other... AUGH.. but I had to tinker with them. I removed the screws from the carriage on one end, moved the red rubber seal up out of the way. I twisted/pulled the green block just enough to feel movement, Then tested the carriage movement... it was smooth in both directions!!!!!! Wowizers, I installed the screws till snug and tested again.... Still smooth... tightened again... still smooth... feeling pretty good about now.. I tightened the screws down all the way and the carriage was still smooth!!!!!!!.... happy camper here! did it again to the other rail and got the same results... I tried on the original rails but the staining was to bad... they were smoother but not good enough... I'm feeling good about this again.... finished the build and powered up the printer.. all looks good green LED flashing (that is good,, right?) anyway. I got 12.37dc volt out of the P/S and then checked the stepper drive voltages.. .637mV... adjusted the Z stepper down to .354mV...and I started smelling a component burning.. then smoke, right where CAP F1 is grrrrrrrrr... no more voltages on the board... not sure what happened but I'm ordering a new 1.4 ramps board... Is there a particular 1.4 ramps board that any one is happy with..

One other item... while removing one of the original rails the carriage slid off the rail??? it never moved on it's own before hmmmm, karma! anyway, I keep reading and hearing DO NOT let this happen!!!! you can not fix this... ok tell me, I can't fix it and I will try... blame my folks for that one!!!! 3 little (really little) ball bearings fell out from one side.... I put them back in and started to install the rail and 2 bearings fell out again... hmmmmmm this is not good... IDEA.. use vasline to hold the bearings in place... and as I slid the rail back on to the carriage I used my finger sliding it backwards to hold the bearings from popping and installed the rail back on.... the carriage slides but still to rough to use IMHO... Dang I love to tinker!!! and ramble (I just read the post)

anyway back to the 1.4 ramps board... thoughts??
