If it doesn't make weird sounds on the way down it's probably ok. If the threads are damaged, you should be able to see that with close inspection.
If it is a bit noisy, or the motor's struggling, maybe a bit of lubrication (light oil, e.g. 3-in-1 does ok) could help?

For z, it seams like every time a layer changes it has hard time adjusting. I guess sometimes it goes down more than it should. Especially for the first couple of layers. I'm betting your stepper driver stepping voltages need to be adjusted.
