Had a vibration sound since the day purchased. Especially at higher speeds doing an XY travel. Done everything imaginable to my printer.
Youtube videos will also expose the same sound. Im thinking now that the steppers have resonance sounds.
Like CNC microstepping, when not setup correctly.
As long as I get good prints, live w/ it.

Thanks for the reply. Yea I understand they would need maintaining. It's just without knowing, a diagram/or photo where to look for those prime areas that need adjusting/maintaining.

I would say the main noise of one element if you are looking face on at the machine is the left to right travel. In 3D programs I use its X -Left to right, Z -is back and front and Y -is up down.

So it would be in the Left to right X axis. As when the machine moves more front to back there is not the Vibration.

Hate to be a pain but do you happen to have a quick (even rubbish photo) or the primary areas that generally need adjustments?

Thanks
Chris

I would suggest getting the proper sized torx bit then popping of the side panels and getting in there and tighten every screw you can find. Then make sure the belts are tight. Then check that the bearing are all snug in their holders. Look up in the top front and back and locate the bearing holder on the sides of the machine. make sure they are not cracked or damaged.

This needs to be done about every three months or more depending on use for this machine as they used no method to lock any of the screws.

I have been having major vibration noises as well on my 1.0, I finally had enough today and decided to check the extruder as no matter what I have done with the x and y carriages, nothing changed, and what I found made me print one of these!

http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:623274

What I found was that the stamped steel fan mount only had one screw holding it on the extruder and the bottom of the mount had also been vibrating against the cold end heatsink. I still have some vibration and will need to track that down, but at this point that only crops up when speeds get to 90 mm/s or higher which really is pushing the printer I think since stock I believe max is around 60 mm/s but I could be wrong.

Cheers for the replies people. I've not taken anything apart on this thing but I would say that they sounds are when its tracking along on the X/Y motions. Does this give any more info? Or would it help to capture a sound byte?

Before I start, I'm fully aware that 3D printers make the stepper motor sounds. Musical to some

But since I've had the printed it started off sounding smooth but a bit more often now it has some almost vibration sounds mixed in? Is that just parts loosening up from being new? Or does something need adjusting/maintenance on these things? I've probably done around 50 hours of printing at a guess.

Anyone who can weigh in on this if its normal or needs a tweak, it would be massively appreciated.

Cheers!
