Did you Make sure to tighten the hot end correctly. If you don't it wont work with PLA.

Did you try the oil trick?

Mine I had tightened it down correctly but I went back and double checked. It was tight. also remember your not tightening the head against the block but the heat break. if you tightened the head against the block go loosen it up and then tighten the heat break against it. Then heat it up for the final tighten. It is really important to follow their installation instructions.

So even after I double checked that I did tighten it correctly I was still getting the clicking. on the 2nd or 3rd layer. So I checked on the E3d forum and that is what I saw suggested. tried it and I haven't had any problems printing with PLA.

As far as the temp goes what I did to find what works with the filament I use is start at 200 for the temp on the roll of pla drop it 5 and keep doing that until it clicks when printing in the air. (the plastic isn't melting then) and then bring it back up 10. if it didn't print at 200 then increases it by 5 till it does and then add 10. This has worked good for me so far on PLA. Each roll needs to be checked but once you find it for that roll you don't have to change it for the roll.

Also check your filament diameter. If it varies a lot and gets over 1.75 by a lot then this could also be your problem. Generally it should be under 1.75 or slightly larger on mine the tolerance is +,- .1 (listed at .05) but from my own measuring it is .1 I have some IC3D and solutech that list +- .1 but are closer to .05 by my measurement.

I don't retract that far, and I have the e3d-v6 in mine I mine.

I did follow a tip from the E3D form of having a little bit of vegetable oil on the filament. I printed a wiper. the wiper has some foam in it that has a been allowed to soak up the oil and then squeezed "dry" in the wiper. this allows a small amount of oil in and from what I hear "seasons" it so the pla doesn't stick

I have 1 mm set on mine in slicer. Cura is set to 4 and both seem to work. I haven't had any stringy parts. I worry about pla retraction since it swells when it gets hot. but haven't had any issues yet with this set up.

I didn't change using a different table for the resister values. I don't have any way to measure them so i'm not sure if they are off or not.

I have my pla set to 200 and my abs to 230 and its working well. TPU seems to like 240 to 250 it melts lower but if I have it at 230 it tends to want to push itself out after it passes through the extruder and into the heat break. if I have it at 240 to 250 it works ok. I do have that one pull back 4 mm as at 1 or 2 it is stringy. even at 4 its stringy but to bad and it likes to push out again if I go much beyond 4 mm

Just to add to elmoret's astute observations 210C is probably too hot for PLA, especially with the Da Vinci 1.0. I think the temperature reading on the da vinci is somewhere on the higher end of the spectrum. I can print PLA fine at 180-190C, but my best PLA prints are down in the 175C range. I also have the E3D hotend.

Hello I tryed to print some parts in PLA from HERZ Filament [Unboxed today]. I tryed to print at 210°C Bed 0°C to painterstape and my parts look like sh**t. I calibrated the E-Steps and the Flowrate. When it start with the second layer it starts clicking. If I extrude the material manually it doesent click but it extrudes uneven.
