If you are referring to the top fill layers of text not being up to par, then simply start adjusting the numbers for perimeter width & top fill layer in the advanced tab of slic3r. It may take a little experimenting to get it where you would like it to be - as in make an adjustment, slice, and look at the preview to see what the changes did, but I can usually get mine to print text decently with enough tinkering.

Hi,

Basically what I'd like to know is if the resolution can be improved on slic3r. Slic3r has very good peel off supports and while it's not the fastest thing out there, it is good enough for my purposes. It also has support for some advanced things I'd like to try like changing the layer size at certain heights and changing the fill ratio at certain places.

What slic3r doesn't do well however is basic resolution for things like models with "text" or other fine details on them. After creating several prints testing between different slicers, I noticed that slic3r had noticeably poorer text detail. I thought maybe it was my printer settings, but when I checked out the render of the gcode on hudbrog's Gcode Analyzer http://gcode.ws it shows exactly the same resolution (or lack of it) that I see on the printed item.

I tried looking through all the settings and digging for a solution on the internet, but have failed to find any useful information. Since I've noticed that many here print models that are visually stunning, this seemed like a good forum to ask this question.

Unlike many on this forum, my 3d Printer isn't exactly an impressive beast. But the fact that it can reproduce finer detail levels than I can make slic3r generate seems a bit ridiculous.
