Alright so ive ruled that the motherboard is shorted out or isnt working. can i buy a motherboard for a different printer and use it in mine? if so, what mother board should i get and how do i set it up?

When you flashed the first time did you save a copy of the firmware? Normally Arduino will not let you exit without saving. If you did save, is that what you reflashed with? When you unplug the USB cable and plug it back in does the computer see it? Whst does it show up as in device manager?

the first time i flashed it i used a bossac program from arduino but i didnt actually go through arduino so it didnt save the file. the computer sees the printer as a bossa program port. awhile ago i redownloaded the arduino software but the page looked different, is it possible they changed something and its not communicating properly when i flash it? i followed instructions from a guy on youtube called Jacob Dykstra

What was it doing when it was acting up and you wanted reflash it?

something was wrong with the z axis and it was moving too much at a time. it was weird since it worked perfectly fine before and i dont think i changed anything. can you help me with the fladhing issue?
