I bought my first 3-D printer in December, a Da Vinci 2.0 duo, and have been completely obsessed with 3-D printing since. I was thinking of getting a cheap printer to start hacking or even building one from scratch but at $350 this 1.0 turned out to be an answer to my wishes.
I have been lurking on this Forum every day since I got the 2.0 In December and I am indebted to all the members who have contributed their experiences and knowledge, it has been a great education for me. Thanks a million for all the help you provide.

When I fired up the 1.0 today after unpacking it the extruder kept banging into the back but I knew from reading this forum that the problem had to be the sensor. I found the left pulley was off by two teeth making the left side not getting back to the sensor before the right side banged into the back. A simple fix and then I printed the demo as a test without doing any adjustments to the bed and it printed perfectly.  I will play with the new printer using the stock settings for a while and then attempt upgrading to a better extruder and firmware.
I have been using only Simplfiy3d with the 2.0 and I use the Elmer's Purple Glue on the bed.  Never have used the XYZ self calibrating method relying only on the paper system which I learned from this Forum.

i am looking for a beter choice then the junior ..

is the davinci 1.0 + hack a good choice  or should i go for a diy-kit reprap-prusa-i3

building the machine will not be a problem

but i see the da vinci 1.0  now for $349,- by amazon  and i like the closed printers more then the open one's
