This is a very good point. I clean my print bed with mineral spirits, which tends to get oils off without too much trouble, but it might be worth me switching to grease as well. If I do, I'll follow the SuperLube trend most likely.

Grease will stay together, be much less likely to get on the print bed, and is about the same price. But like TheBaron said, dust can get into the greases which means that you'll have to replace the grease every so often, depending upon your environment.

I use
Super Lube - multi purpose synthetic oil with PTFE (Teflon) and apply it with a Q tip and then move all parts to get everything coated.
Bought on Amazon for like 5 bucks

Dubbsd, that grease would also be a good choice. I tend to avoid using greases just because they leave a layer that dust and such can stick to and I tend to have a fairly dirty shop. The spray leaves a film that's a little less tacky from my experience.

If it was heavier weight, I would definitely go grease over spray, though.

WD-40 is made for displacing water and unsticking loose things. It dries fairly quickly and doesn't leave much lubrication behind when it does. You can use a spray silicone or a 3-in-1 oil as carl recommended. Pretty much any light spindle or way oil will do. Avoid vegetable oil and other cooking oils (will go rancid and smell bad).

There is a brand here in the states called 3-IN-ONE. That's what I used. It's good for guns and any other light oil needs.

Just use a light machine oil. WD40 if you have it in your region will also work.
