As far as I understand it, the mm measurement we are talking about is different for each printer. I think that 0 is as far as the print head can go downward on the Z axis. It has to be adjusted upward so that it will clear the bed, so setting it at 1.4mm does not mean it is 1.4mm above the bed. I have mine set at 1.4mm right now and in the center of the bed it is probably about 0.2-0.3mm above the be but when moved back to the right back corner it is less than 0.2mm. In my case, my bed is not even all the way around.

Mine works fine but have you tried (not sure if you even can) but the distances between 1.4 and 1.8mm. I have read previously that for good prints the nozzle would need to be about the thickness of a piece of paper about the platen and this is a lot less than 1.4mm... Is it in mm? and is that distance the distance before it moves the head down to the platen? When mine prints the distance between the nozzle and the platen is a lot less than 1.4mm.

I just posted a question of my own but I think I may be having a similar issue as you are. I think my Z-axis was set too low, it was 1mm from the factory and I was getting the clicking noise also. I am wondering if it needs to be set higher and then glue used to keep the filament stuck to the tape since it won't be squishing it down as tightly when the printhead is raised. On mine it was so tight on that first layer I couldn't get prints off the bed without ripping the tape off everytime and using an even thinner prying tool.

Hi there I do hope I can get a reply to help me out I had the printer yesterday and think it looks great but seem to be having setting up issues .
I bought this because I am new to 3d printing and was told they are ready setup out of the box ? , but I am serious problems first print the nozzle scratched the tape off the bed so I went and had a look at the instructions they said for me to go into menu and select the z axis tool and to move the setting up , it was set at 1.4mm so I moved in increments of 0.2 mm it currently on 2.0mm its now printing without touching the tape but I am having rubbish prints like the prints and misses and some parts are great but not consistent. So was wondering if someone could tell me what the correct setting is for this feature.

My other problem did it constantly at first but now about every 3-5 seconds getting a jolting noise like a knock coming from the feeding filament art which is making the feed tube flex like its struggling , I've loaded and unloaded the filament 3 times and cleaned the nozzle even though I've only done 2 prints , I am using the filament that came with and ordered 2 new rolls that is coming on Monday to rule out the filament , I have emailed the technical dept. at xyz but said it can take up to 3 days and hoped I could get some help on here please.
Steve
