RAMPS is a proven setup and easy to get running, you shouldn't have any trouble. By far the biggest problem I have with that kind of setup is just getting the motor amperages tuned right, and that's fairly easy to do. You are going to need a non-conductive screwdriver for that part, but you can make one by shaving down a piece of plastic to the right size. Everything else should be included in the kit.

Hard for me to tell the site isn't smart phone friendly.  It looks like the first 2 don't include stepper drivers so for the price I'd go for the full kit if it includes 4 drivers (again I couldn't tell).
From the jumbled images and interrupted text it looks like that bottom should have everything you need.

In short, not much you can do to troubleshoot the printrboard if you can't connect to it. Was the USB hooked up to the mac when it died? It could have burned out the USB on the printrboard but the rest might work. You could get a panelolu2 and hook it up, maybe you can output jobs to a SD card and run them that way. That's a big "might", though.

That is a Printerboard so about all you can do is start trouble shooting.  The first thing I would do is try a windows machine with the correct driver installed.

Checked on Windows it cant see the board either.

So my questions are

Is it fixable with some solder?
Is there any other fixes you think I can try?
Is there a cheaper priced replacement board you can recommend?
What do you recommend I do?

Just recently I had power surge on the power bar that my iMac and Solidoodle 3 were plugged into. I just got my computer back with a new logic board so I am now starting from scratch getting all my slicer profiles back in play. Today i connected my printer and in the port selection in the printer settings area the usb option is not showing. All the lights go on on the board when I plug the usb into the computer (with and without the power connected) but the computer cannot see the USB. I plugged in my rostock printer and the usb option shows up so I know the computer and the repetier host are working fine. Also when I plug in the power supply all lights turn on and everything seems to look ok. I have read through the posts as much as possible and I cant find any issues that have been answered to show me how to troubleshoot the usb in a situation where everything looks perfectly normal and still isn't working.

Do I need to replace the board?

Is there a test of some sort that I can troubleshoot this to a specific issue?
