Well red as they would say in the french section here Se la vi.
Sales and marketing has always looked for ways to make a product sound appealing.
Engineering has been described as figuring out how to build serviceable reliable machines at an affordable price.
While some of us expect a 3d printer to have an enclosure , a heated bed, large print volume etc there are many tiny machines that look like they crawled from a robotics lab.
So i guess the key here is to determine if a particular project is 1) well thought out . well planned and well engineered or is it just hype.
Are there clear goals or just someones fantasy dream with little or no real merit. or as the video stated BS.
tin

Warning: this is not directed at any specific kickstarter project.
I do personally feel some people are still convincing the inexperienced that they can make a better product (like some 3d printer) that those which already exist and available for purchase today which work just fine and and actually creative and innovative projects are declining. It's getting pretty annoying.
Same shit over and over again:
"No existing 3d printer met our requirements so we decided to make our own".
"Simple to use, plug n play, out of the box, no calibration!"
"Wireless connection, cloud, SD card"
"Up to very fine 50/100 micron layer resolution"
"Large print volume!"
"Enclosure!"
"Print anything you want!".
Wow, never heard that before, except the previous 3d printer which popped up in the list of projects... and the one before it, and the one before that one

Again, just my opinion.

Anyway, this video was general and not about 3d printer projects specifically but I think most of it applies and they nailed it. It was pretty funny to me so i wanted to share it with you guys.
