Tin Falcon - Thanks for the video, have subscribed to his channel now so I can go through his videos for tips and tricks.

There is a box sitting in my living room which I ampining to open but the house is up for sale and I am not going to unpack it until I know I am going to be settled. Only good thing is I can spent the time to find any pitfalls. But I WANT to play with my toy NOW !!!!

madfalcon81 - Had a play at work yesterday and it goes to gether as detailed in the article. Will fiddle around today and hopefully be able to post the drawing and STL files later today or tomorrow.
One thing I did note though is that it is easiest to layout the thread arrangement as a section to help confirm pitch and tooth shape before producing a helix. that way you can ensure correct mesh of the thread. Also I found that it was easiest to oversize the thread length then make a couple of cubes and subtract the thread back to it's required length before unioning the thread to a revolved body. Hope this helps

Dave

Here is a question: I tried to build in Autocad a "bottle" for my firm rubber stamp. It consist of 2 sides wich screw one into another (like a bottle and its cap) but those 2 sides are equal. For the top side I have to extrude a helix from the cilinder, but it says helix is a surface and no solid (of course I do a little triangle wich is sweeped around the helix). Please take in mind I am begginer and selfeducated in Autocad. Thanks !

Did a silly thing the other day and bought a new Da Vinci 3D printer. (Was going so cheap I couldn't stop myself from offering the toy a new home)

Well it's turned up so thought it might be an idea to find out how to make it work proper like so did a bit of form reading and think it's to throw off the lurker's cloak.

A bit about myself, I am draughtsman with just over 30 years in the profession and nearly 20 of those in production design where a 3D printer would have been helpful. Instead I used to have to make models from card and tape

Now working in Building Services hence the printer is now classified as a toy

Have an extensive knowledge of AutoCAD, MEP, Revit and Inventor so if anyone is using them and wants a pointer or two I'll see what I can do

Cheers

Dave
