It absolutely makes a difference. Like Wardjr said, an enclosure is very necessary when printing with ABS. It helps prevent the object from warping and separating from the build plate surface. I also find with the Workbench that those two fans on the front cool off the ABS too much and causes the layers to separate. I don't turn the fans off, but I rotate them up when printing with ABS and I rotate them back down for PLA. PLA is more prone to pre-heat before it gets to the nozzle, causing the filament to swell up and jam. It needs the air blowing on it to prevent heat transfer, ABS does not. I made the top from acrylic sheets available from Home Depot. It's fairly inexpensive. You can get an 18"x24" sheet for 10 bucks. It'll take a few of them to make the top cover, door, and sides. I believe the thickness is .093". The top cover is glued together with medium thickness Super Glue.

It can't hurt and anytime you print bigger parts it is essential.

Thanks wardjr . i like that and i´m thinking to make something similar but i have seen how makerbot has the replicator 2x and i like the idea about thermoforming the part.

Do you know if the problems that you see in the pictures can resolve with this solution?

There are lots of neat ideas for tops out there. It is important to enclose the top if you are printing larger ABS parts. Here's a picture of how I enclosed the top of mine. There are so many reasons a setup like this works well. I have tried just about everything imaginable.

A few weeks ago with the workbench, changing the settings and printing. I´m printing differents parts with times averages between 20 - 40 hours with the layer height 0.1 mm. These are photos and video with something problems that I see in the process.

Who know what happening on the surface when happened that?

Additionally is the case to enclosed the workbench. i want to add another part on the top but i don´t know what o how is the best part. Any suggestion?
